The Delivery Suite

Pictures tells a thousand words....
1030hrs
- Mummy and Daddy dropped by Dr Koh's clinic at Toa Payoh for him to check on Mummy.
- Dr Koh did a VE and informed Mummy that she is in early labour. He reckon that the labour will only happen between 9.00pm and 12.00 midnight! Mummy thought in her mind.. "this is going to be a long one.. hopefully not!!". He then gave instructions that he will burst Mummy's waterbag in the clinic and they can proceed to admit at Thomson Medical Centre.
1200hrs
- Mummy admitted into TMC together with Daddy
- Was put on drip shortly after Mummy cleared her bowels. One filipino nurse was very friendly.. Mummy chatted with her for a while on her experiences in Palawan! The contraction was still very bearable then!!
- No food from then on at the Delivery Suite. Just water to sip.. of cos not forgetting "gao li" which Mummy sucked on every time she had contractions! It was better than nothing..
- Nurse came in to check once in a while on Mummy.
- Daddy, on the other hand, was giving real time updates on Facebook and MSN!! He was so excited that I am on the way!!
1500hrs
- Nurse came in and did a check again. By then, Mummy was 5cm dilated. Yes.. we were half way there!
- By then, Mummy was on the Entonox (gas) on and off.
- Shortly after, Mummy requested for Pethidine, an injection to relief the muscle. However, the nurse did another check and informed Mummy that she was 8cm dilated! She should have inform them earlier when she was 5cm! Oh no..
- Mummy had to persist and depend on just Entonox from then on while I slowly put more pressure downwards and moved down Mummy's birth canal. Tough on you Mummy..
- While all the drama was going on, a nurse even came in with the day's menu and asked for what Mummy wanted for her dinner that evening! Confinement food or porridge? My my.. Mummy can't even be bothered!! Daddy just decided on fish porridge for her.
1600hrs - 1700hrs
- The pain became more and more intense and Mummy was breathing hard into the gas with the support and encourgement of Daddy by her side.
- By then, Mummy was already groaning in deep pain while I slowly made my way further down her birth canal.
1700hrs - my birth
- Daddy constantly updated Mummy on the status in the suite.
- He mentioned that the mid wives were preparing for the delivery and getting things ready for Dr Koh to come.
- Mummy had a very strong urge to push.. "I'm ready and coming out Mummy.."
- 2 mid-wives were there to assist. They raised Mummy's legs up high and told her to start pushing using half-energy.
- They also informed that Dr Koh was on the way.
- In Mummy's mind, she was wondering what was taking Dr Koh that long!!
1735hrs
- Phew... Mummy was so relieved to see Dr Koh!! He came in, got dressed and set down to work on Mummy..
- Soon enough, Daddy could see my head and hair!
